The following courses are designed to help the normal computer user to understand the workings of his / her own PC.

 

Overview:

This introductory course is designed for both home and business computer users.  The objective of the course is to learn how to service the software on your PC to optimise the computers performance.  Candidates will be introduced to the best of software tools.  Candidates will gain an understanding as to how to identify and repair problems that occur in PC operating systems.  Having completed this course you will be prepared for our PC Maintenance Hardware course.

Topic 2: Hard Disk Maintenance

Topic 3: Memory Management

Topic 4: Virus and Spyware Removal

Topic 5: Firewalls and Intrusion

Topic 7: The Windows Registry

Topic 8: Optimising System Boot Up

Topic 9: Monitoring System Performance

Topic 10: Operating System tweaks and Tips

Every candidate will have an opportunity to use each software tool.  You will also receive a copy of the software to take away with you.  Notes and handouts will be supplied for further reading.

Topic 4: Stripping and rebuilding a machine

Topic 5: Installation of common hardware - Web Cams, Printers, Scanners

Topic 6: Upgrading major computer components - Processor, Hard Drive and Memory

Topic 7: Optimisation of performance

Topic 8: Installing device drivers

Topic 9: Troubleshooting common computer errors

Topic 10: Benching hardware performance

Every candidate will have an opportunity to strip and rebuild a PC from start to beginning.  You will also rhave the opportunity to install parts and upgrade a PC.  Each candidate will get excellent hands on experience.  Notes and handouts will be supplied for further reading.
